We’ve got some sad news to share: Riff is shutting down on November 30th.

We’ve loved getting to know you all and building the Riff community with you. We really hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.

While the product and community have come together in spectacular fashion, the business side of things hasn’t gone as well as we had hoped. You may not realize it, but Riff represents thousands of hours of work from a 3-person team. We couldn’t find a way to cover the costs of our operation, not to mention the small army of servers needed to deliver a high-quality live streaming experience.

Thanks to those who made Riff a home for passionate fans on the internet. We’re sorry that we have to take it down.

What about my earnings?

All Partners will be paid out in full by December 15th.

What about my unspent tickets?

We’re suspending the sale of tickets and virtual gifts soon, and we will refund those with unspent tickets by December 15th.

We’re happy to announce we’ve made huge improvements to video quality on Riff. Starting today, all streams will be in 720p (up from 360p)! We’re also giving streamers the ability to choose from 3 bitrate presets (Low, Medium, High). We recommend experimenting and finding the best option for your connection.

Fast and smooth playback is of course a VERY important feature to our community. And we’ve heard a lot of feedback from you that VOD playback has been impaired these past few weeks. Fear not, we fixed an issue with our servers, and we expect VODs to be speedier than ever from here on out.
